The Sh-K-Boom Room, the concert series produced by SH-K-BOOM RECORDS, will present an evening with Tony Award winning composer/lyricist Jason Robert Brown, considered one of the leaders of a new generation of Broadway writing talent, in concert at THE CUTTING ROOM (19 West 24th Street, NYC) on Tuesdays, June 18th & 25th, both shows at 7:00 pm. The concert will feature Jason and his band, as well as special guest star vocalists. There will be a $20 cover at the door. Please RSVP reservations to BoomRoom@sh-k-boom.com.

SH-K-BOOM RECORDS will nationally release the Original Cast Recording of Mr. Brown's musical, THE LAST 5 YEARS on June 11. Mr. Brown recently won two 2002 Drama Desks Awards for Outstanding Music & Lyrics for the show. ęThe CD is currently available in New York stores and online at http://www.Sh-K-Boom.com/. "The Last 5 Years" stars two of the most dynamic and acclaimed musical theatre performers in recent years, Norbert Leo Butz, a 2002 Tony Award nominee, and Sherie Renœ Scott, best known as the award-winning star of Disney's smash Broadway musical AIDA.

The Sh-K-Boom Room is an ongoing live concert series dedicated to bridging the gap between pop music and theatre. Sh-K-Boom concerts expose audiences to Broadway artists as they have never been seen before, performing their own original pop/rock material. The series began in October 2000, with sold-out midnight concerts every Thursday at venues such as Studio 54, The Cutting Room and The Village Theater.ę These events often champion worthy causes for the theatre and music industries, including The Actors' Fund of America, City Harvest, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and City at Peace.ę For a full schedule of upcoming events, visit "The Sh-K-Boom Room" at http://www.Sh-K.Boom.com/.

Jason Robert Brown is the recipient of the 2002 Kleban Award and two 2002 Drama Desk Awards for his work on "The Last 5 Years." Mr. Brown is the Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist of "Parade," a musical written with Alfred Uhry and directed by Harold Prince, which premiered at Lincoln Center Theater in 1998, and won the Drama Desk and New York Drama Critics' Circle awards for Best New Musical. His first musical, "Songs for a New World," directed by Daisy Prince, played Off-Broadway at the WPA Theatre in 1995, and has since been seen in more than 80 productions, including the British premiere last summer at the Bridewell Theatre. Both shows were recorded by BMG/RCA Victor. In 1998, Jason was a recipient of the Gilman and Gonzales-Fallan Musical Theatre Award. He composed incidental music for David Lindsay-Abaire's "Fuddy Meers and Kimberly Akimbo," Kenneth Lonergan's "The Waverly Gallery" and the Irish Repertory Theatre's "Long Day's Journey Into Night." He was musical director of the vocal group The Tonics, conductor and orchestrator of Yoko Ono's musical "New York Rock" at the WPA Theatre, conductor and arranger of Michael John LaChiusa's "The Petrified Prince" directed by Harold Prince at the Public, and he orchestrated Andrew Lippa's "john and jen" at Lambs Theatre. His songs, including the new standard "Stars and the Moon," have been performed by Betty Buckley, Karen Akers, Donna Murphy, Audra McDonald and others. He is a member of the Dramatists' Guild, and is honored to be an Artist-in-Residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

Sh-K-Boom Records was founded by Kurt Deutsch in 2000. The label is committed to giving a voice to the new generation of Broadway composers and stars. "The Last 5 Years" is their first cast recording, following solo recordings by three of Broadway's biggest stars: Alice Ripley's "Everything's Fine," the self-penned debut album from the Tony Award nominated star of "The Rocky Horrorę Show," "The Who's Tommy" and "Side Show;" Adam Pascal's "Model Prisoner," a collection of original rock songs by the Tony Award nominee from the original cast of "Rent" who is currently starring on Broadway in "Aida;" and Sherie Renœ Scott's "SHERIE RENE... Men I've Had," featuring songs by Elton John, Randy Newman, Pete Townshend, Jonathan Larson and Kander & Ebb. These discs have been previously available at Sh-K-Boom's website and are now being released nationally for the first time through Image Entertainment. The label also produces a wildly successful series of concerts called "The Sh-K-Boom Room," featuring major Broadway talent performing new material and original compositions.
