KAREN AKERS "THEATRE SONGS" IN THE HAMPTONS

A Tribute To Nine (Her Broadway Debut) And Other Shows at WestHampton Beach Performing Arts Center

Karen Akers, one of America's most arresting and successful concert and cabaret stars, will appear, for one night only, at the WESTHAMPTON BEACH PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (76 Main Street, WestHampton Beach, NY - 631-288-1500 - http://www.whbpac.org/) in concert performing her acclaimed show "THEATRE SONGS." After an absence of several years of performing in The Hamptons, Karen makes her WHBPAC debut, for one night only, Saturday, July 26th at 8:30 pm. With Music Direction by Don Rebic, the show is a program by such theatre composers as Stephen Sondheim, Richard Maltby & David Shire, Marvin Hamlisch and Maury Yeston among others. It will include 3 songs from "Nine," the original Broadway production in which Karen starred opposite Raul Julia. She received a Tony nomination for her performance. Other shows represented include Grand Hotel, Chess and West Side Story. Ticket prices are $50, $40, and $30.

Ms. Akers has performed throughout the United States, Europe and the former Soviet Union.š She has appeared in many prestigious venues worldwide from Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, the famed Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, and London's Pizza on the Park.š Her career also includes three performances at the White House.

Recordings include "Feels Like Home," "Live from Rainbow and Stars," "Under Paris Skies," "Just Imagine," "Unchained Melodies," "In a Very Unusual Way," and "Presenting Karen Akers." Broadway cast recordings include Nine and Grand Hotel. She is also heard on the soundtrack recording of Woody Allen's "The Purple Rose of Cairo," in which she made her cinematic debut.
