Jonathan Frank At THE DUPLEX in April

Performer Jonathan Frank returns to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/) in "Some Kind of Music," his first show in New York after nearly three years, and his first since moving to New York from Seattle. To help celebrate that move, "Some Kind of Music" features songs from several songwriters he has met since moving to New York, including Tim DiPasqua, Michael Holland, and Tracy Stark, as well as songs from some old favorites, including Cy Coleman, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Rupert Holmes, Janis Ian, and Amanda McBroom. The show will be performed on Wednesdays, April 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th at 9:00 pm. Jonathan will be joined by Dick Gallagher on piano, Ritt Henn on bass, and on April 23rd and 30th by very special guest, Julie Reyburn. There is a $15 cover charge and a 2-drink minimum.

Jonathan is an accomplished cabaret performer, having performed at The Duplex and Danny's Skylight Room in New York, and The Gardenia in Los Angeles along with other rooms across the country. He has the honor of having been the first Northwest artist invited to perform at the New York Cabaret Convention in June, 1998 and at the Third West Coast Cabaret Convention in San Francisco. In November 1999, at the invitation of cabaret legend Andrea Marcovicci, Jonathan performed as her guest artist at the legendary Oak Room at The Algonquin for her show, "The Songs of the 40's."

Jonathan has also performed as a solo artist with the North Dakota Symphony's July 4th Pops Concert for an audience of 6,000, and for an evening of Broadway songs at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. Mr. Frank also has an extensive theatrical background that includes performing Shakespeare with Keanu Reeves (Shakespeare & Co., Lennox, Massachusetts) and O'Neil with Jane Alexander (ACT Theatre, Seattle).

Mr. Frank's debut solo CD, "Sleeping in the Arms of Love," recorded in Los Angeles with a twenty-three piece orchestra, features romantic songs from the stage and cabaret. Some of the songs, including the title song by John Wallowitch and Gary Schocker, were first time recordings. The CD, produced by Steven Applegate, features arrangements by Steven Applegate and Glenn Mehrbach, best known for his work with cabaret legend, Andrea Marcovicci.

On April 4th Jonathan will be performing at THE TOWN HALL (123 West 43rd Street, NYC - http://www.the-townhall-nyc.org/) in "Sentimental Journey: The Songs of World War II," part of their World Cabaret Series produced by Scott and Barbara Siegel. That evening will also feature Broadway greats Debbie Gravitte and Karen Mason.
