JOHNNY RODGERS DEBUTS NEW QUARTET AT KING KONG ROOM

Johnny Rodgers brings an evening of pop and jazz original music to KING KONG ROOM at the Supper Club (240 West 47th Street, NYC - 1-212-921-1904 - http://www.KingKongRoom.com/) on Monday, June 16 at 8:30 pm. This new band, featured on the recently released Maury Yeston Songbook (PS CLASSICS), includes Brian Glassman on bass, Danny Mallon on drums/percussion, and Joe Ravo on guitar. There is a $15 cover charge plus a $15 food and beverage minimum. Reservations are suggested.

From Off-Broadway theaters to the Manhattan nightclub scene, Johnny Rodgers has been knocking audiences out with his swinging vocals, sophisticated piano and emotionally charged original songs. Since his move from Chicago two years ago, he has shared the stage with such diverse luminaries as Sir Paul McCartney and Chrissie Hynde at the PETA Humanitarian Awards and Michael Feinstein at Carnegie Hall, and was featured on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" on National Public Radio. Last year, Johnny appeared in the Off-Broadway production of "Our Sinatra."

Johnny has been the recipient of many performance and songwriting awards, including the prestigious Abe Olman Scholarship from the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Manhattan Association of Clubs Award for Best Male Debut Performer, the Backstage Magazine Bistro Award for Outstanding Debut, the Gerald Marks Award from the New York Sheet Music Society, Show Business Weekly's Best One-Man Show Award and numerous ASCAP scholarships. He is currently working on a solo recording, funded in part by the ASCAP Foundation and produced by writing partner Richard Barone.
