HAYDEE
TEE MOVES "MUFTEE" TO NYC IN JANUARY

Direct
from a sold-out seven-month run in Sydney, Australia, New Zealand's
Hatden Tee, winner of the New York Award at the 2002 Sydney Cabaret
Convention, brings his hit cult sensation, THE MUFTEE SHOW to MAMA
ROSE'S (219 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-533-0558 - http://www.mamaroses.net/)
for 4 performances only, January 4th, 5th, 11th and 13th at 9:00 pm.
Co-created, produced and directed by Les Solomon, "Muftee" stars Hayden
Tee, who is joined by Musical Director and co-host, Nigel Ubrihien
as they welcome a series of "special guests" each night. There is
a $15 cover charge plus a 2-drink minimum.
A wacky and
wild blend of topical comedy, music and chat, "Muftee" is a unique
mix: part "Tonight Show," part comedy spoof, and part cabaret show.
It includes such off-the-wall segments as "Tee-sers," a mini-game
show where the audience wins prizes of tea, "Tee-Mail," and "The Week
That Was," a dishy reportage of show business gossip. The word 'muftee'
is an old army reference that was used when soldiers were allowed
to step out of uniform into their own choice of clothing. The Muftee
Show is a real potpourri. It's all about stepping out of the normal
constraints of cabaret and taking it into a brand new direction.
Hayden Tee
(Performer/co-host) one of Australia's most acclaimed young actor/singers,
hails from New Zealand and has been working professionally in Australia
since he was 18. Most recently Hayden received acclaim for the Australian
national tour of his one-man show, Quarterlife Crisis. Hayden is the
recipient of the 2002 New York Award at the Sydney Cabaret Convention,
which enabled him to first perform in New York venues. He has played
the leading role in the acclaimed play Three Winters Green, in Sydney
and performed in musicals such as The Wizard of Oz and Kiss Me, Kate.
Nigel Ubrihien
(Music Director/co-host) is one of Australia's most dynamic young
musical talents: teacher, accompanist, writer, arranger and musical
director for cabaret and music-theater. He graduated from the Sydney
Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree majoring in
harpsichord and continued his studies at the Academy of Music in Prague,
Czech Republic, under the virtuoso Zuzana Ruzickova. His credits include
the Australian premieres of And The World Goes 'Round, Lucky Stiff
and Songs for a New World. He has been the musical director for many
Australian cabaret artists including David Campbell and Kane Alexander
and has played throughout Australia and New Zealand. Nigel's previous
New York appearances include his cabaret shows The Way We Weren't
and A Star is Bored, which played to sold-out houses at The Duplex.
Les Solomon
(Creator/Producer/Director) is well known in Australia and New York
as a theatrical manager and agent having worked in the industry for
over thirty years as a director, producer, entrepreneur and long time
radio broadcaster and journalist. His clients have included David
Campbell, Tim Draxl and Kane Alexander. Currently, he represents Judi
Connelli, Chelsea Plumley and Hayden Tee. Les directed the Australian
premieres of Relative Merits, Three Winters Green, Only Heaven Knows
and Love! Valour! Compassion! and directed and conceived the Australian
New York Recovery Concert to aid fire fighters associated with September
11. In New York, he also directed several cabaret shows including
David Campbell's Rainbow and Stars debut and Judi Connelli's one-woman
autobiographical show Back to Before at Town Hall. Currently, Les
runs Lambert House Enterprises, an agency and production house in
Australia.
